Generation Grit: Adopted at age 5, she overcomes abandonment issues to help others

After a troubled early life as an adopted child, Grace Lee was inspired to transform from a failing pupil to an A-star student. Today, she helps others in need of a new path through life.

A chance encounter with a kindred spirit and strong support from her adoptive parents gave Grace Lee the will to turn her life around. This is the latest in a series on millennials who persevere despite tremendous odds.

SINGAPORE - It wasn't until she was 12 that Ms Grace Lee discovered that she was adopted.

But there were signs - people often commented on how different she looked from her parents and brother, and she had memories of living in a room full of rowdy small children before her parents came and whisked her away.
