When ISG.DM2 team leader Eugene Yap recalled how his team won their first match easily at the first Defense Of The Ancients 2 (Dota 2) qualifier for the King Of Games tournament, he could not help grinning.

"Our opponents were quite inexperienced and it was easy for us to match their draft and customise our heroes to match theirs," said Mr Yap, 21, a third-year student at Nanyang Polytechnic.

But in the end, ISG.DM2 lost to the veterans of Icepro IS Back.

This mixed team, which included experienced players from Zenith and Flash eSports, emerged champions in the first qualifier in Digital Life's King Of Games tournament.
